Adeyemi shines for Barcelona and boosts his Germany case

Karim Adeyemi returned to form for Barcelona after the 7-2 rout of Racing at the Spotify Camp Nou. Even without scoring, the winger delivered a headline performance: eight shots, six completed dribbles, four chances created, five recoveries, two crosses, two penalties won and one assist, plus the constant feeling—especially as Mundo Deportivo notes—that something happens every time he gets the ball.

The ‘Barça effect’ grows

Coach Hansi Flick backed the project publicly. In the club’s press appearance (as reported by Mundo Deportivo), Flick said: “Karim has a lot of potential and will improve, because he’s still adapting to our way of playing.” He also pointed to the fast bond with the stands: “All Barça fans are with him, I’m happy for him… His speed is incredible.”

The momentum is also spilling into international duty. Mundo Deportivo highlights that this “Barça effect” has brought Adeyemi back into Germany plans. After falling short at the World Cup and with Jürgen Klopp taking over from Julian Nagelsmann, Klopp selected 44 players for the UEFA Nations League. Adeyemi appears on the second squad: matches versus Serbia on October 1 and in Greece on October 4. Marc-André ter Stegen, also back from his loan at Ajax, is called by Klopp for games vs Netherlands on September 24 and Greece on September 27.

As Mundo Deportivo sums up, Adeyemi’s recent output is strong: three goals and three assists in seven matches, alternating starts and substitute cameos. In the Racing game specifically, he recorded 74 involvements, 42 passes with 85.7% accuracy, won five possessions, and drew four fouls. His move to Barça was also confirmed in the piece: Deco signed him from Borussia Dortmund for €22m fixed plus €7m in add-ons, and the early impact suggests it could keep paying off.
