Ancelotti set to choose XI as Lille host Betis without Igamane
L'Équipe says Davide Ancelotti has options for his Champions League debut, but Hamza Igamane is ruled out.
Davide Ancelotti approaches his first ever Champions League XI with options. According to L'Équipe, he should be able to field a rested and well-prepared group for Tuesday night’s home match against Betis, with one major exception: Hamza Igamane.
Key selection calls
As noted by L'Équipe, Igamane is out after suffering a serious knee injury at the start of the year, and he is also not included in the squad for the league phase. The timing helps Lille too: they played on Thursday evening at Toulouse (1-0), giving them five days to recover before the Champions League game.
Where the decision sits
In the forward line, the main question is the number nine role. L'Équipe also expects Ethan to keep his spot on the right side of the attack. Up front, Olivier Giroud has started from the beginning of the season, but Ayase Ueda provides competition after scoring on his debut against TFC. Both are set to feature, and the remaining task is deciding the order/structure.
