Andalusia hosts the minor who travelled hidden under Valladolid’s bus

The Junta de Andalucía has confirmed that it has taken in a minor migrant in one of its centres: the youngster who arrived from Ceuta after travelling hidden underneath the Real Valladolid team bus.

As Mundo Deportivo reports, the boy got on the vehicle in Ceuta after Valladolid played on Sunday in the autonomous city, during the competition’s sixth matchday. The region’s Consejería de Servicios Sociales, Familia e Igualdad, cited via EFE, says the minor is currently in a care centre in Andalusia, though it has declined to share further details due to his age.

The rescue after cries for help

The report explains that the journey included the 45 minutes ferry ride between Ceuta and the peninsula, plus the time needed to reach Jerez de la Frontera from the port. It was only after nearly two hours—when the boy realised he was running out of strength—that he started shouting for help.

At that point Iván Alejo—a Valladolid midfielder—noticed and raised the alarm to his teammates that someone was in the axle area. The coach stopped at a petrol station, and the staff and players pulled the minor out, providing him with food, drink, and clothing until the Guardia Civil arrived.

Procedures and placement

According to EFE, the Guardia Civil handled the relevant procedures that ultimately led to the boy being taken in at a Junta-run centre. Valladolid’s sporting director Víctor Orta told EFE that the team’s actions made him feel “proud” for their “human and supportive” attitude, which helped save a life.
