Ander Herrera doubtful for Zaragoza away at Ibiza with lumbar issues

Real Zaragoza head to Can Misses to face Ibiza with a key question in midfield: Ander Herrera. According to Sport, the youngster has a strong chance of staying behind and not making the trip with the squad that will travel on Thursday for the Friday match.

Back issue leaves doubt

Sport adds that Herrera was not included in the squad for the previous game against Cartagena due to back discomfort. The current approach, the outlet says, is mainly about prudence and caution. He did, however, take part on Monday in a light compensatory training session designed for the players who started against Cartagena.

The plan, per Sport, is to extend his rest to help him clear up his lumbar problems and to rule out any lingering hint of muscular trouble. The concern dates back to when he asked to be substituted early in the second half against Juventud Torremolinos, after which it looked like a minor muscle issue—but it was later dismissed.

Decision made easier

Sport also claims Ibai doesn’t want to take risks. That is backed by the strong Sunday performance of the Terrer–Ademo partnership, which gives him room to choose. It’s likely the pair will repeat in Ibiza, and Rubén Díez could also be in the starting mix again as the outlet highlights the connection he has shown with the midfielders.
