Anthony Gordon leads England to a 2-0 win over Czech Republic
Gordon scored and Harry Kane added the second as England opened their Nations League campaign with a 2-0 win in Prague after Sulc’s red.
England secured a 2-0 win over the Czech Republic in Prague, with Anthony Gordon putting the visitors ahead and Harry Kane sealing the result. It started to swing early for the hosts: Pavel Sulc was shown a first-half red card after a studs-up challenge on Elliot Anderson’s shin, with VAR confirming the decision.
Red card sparks the turnaround
As Sky Sports reports, England endured a shaky start and nearly went behind twice from chances created before the game settled. Even with the score level at 11 vs 11, Gordon caused problems throughout, coming close to setting up an opener, while Morgan Rogers’ low cross curled onto the far post.
After Sulc’s dismissal, Thomas Tuchel reshuffled, and Eberechi Eze arrived at half-time to help speed up a particularly tense opening period. Once England found their footing, Gordon made the breakthrough, and Kane added the second to complete the Nations League statement.
