Aspas sets a return timeline after his injury
Iago Aspas (Celta) says he started rehab on Monday and expects to be back after the international break.
Iago Aspas, Celta’s striker, has put a timeframe on his return after missing several matches with an injury. Speaking to reporters, the player said he started running on Monday and that recovery is expected to take three to four weeks, which means he believes he’ll be available again when the league resumes after the international break.
A “balsam” victory
Aspas described last weekend’s win over Racing de Santander as “balsámica” (comforting). The team delivered a 5-0 away result in the seventh league match of the season, after a start that included four draws and two defeats. He said the group had been working very well and felt they “deserved many more points”, even if, as he put it, football is not about “deserving” but about getting the ball in the net.
Watching from the stands
Because of his injury, Aspas has not been able to play the most recent games, and he admitted that following matches “on TV and from outside the pitch,” from the stands, has been difficult: he said it is “muy mal”.
As Mundo Deportivo reports, he added a personal reflection as well: after discussing it with his wife, Aspas acknowledged he doesn’t know “how” he will handle it “tomorrow” when he retires, though right now he feels closer to the daily routine of the squad.
