Barcelona with 17 internationals for the first international break

Barcelona is heading into the first three-week international break of the 2026-27 season with a large-scale exodus. As Mundo Deportivo reports, 17 FC Barcelona players will be on international duty, and Hansi Flick has to deal with absences due to injuries.

Flick with fewer days

For this week’s training, the coach will only be able to work with a small group. According to the same source, he can count on Wojciech Szczesny, Alejandro Balde, Gerard Martín, Gavi (Pablo Páez), Brian Fariñas and Gabriel Jesus. At the same time, Frenkie de Jong, Joan García, Roony Bardghji and Andreas Christensen are ruled out with injuries, four of whom would have otherwise joined their national teams.

La Liga does not resume for Barça until Saturday 10 October, when they host Getafe.

Spain’s Nations League focus

The biggest representation comes from Spain. In the Nations League, Pau Cubarsí, Eric Garcia, Rodri Hernández, Pedri González, Fermín López, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal have four matches ahead, with three of those games featuring Barça teammates. On Saturday 26 September they face England in London (with Anthony Gordon); on Tuesday 29 they play Croatia in Seville (with Dominik Livakovic); and on Tuesday 6 October they travel to Split for the return.

Other squads

Mundo Deportivo also lists the rest of the senior internationals: Karim Adeyemi with Germany; Jules Koundé with France; Raphinha with Brazil; João Cancelo with Portugal; and Hamza Albelkarim with Egypt. For the Under-21s, three more Barça players are called up: Marc Bernal and Xavi Espart for Spain, and Jesse Bisiwu for Belgium.
