Borja Fernández, Lugo’s coach, made a statement this Saturday and took the team to the top of Group I in Primera RFEF with a 1-0 derby win over Racing de Ferrol, thanks to Álex Gallar.
As Sport reports, the result sits within a strong run: Lugo have won four straight against Racing, Unionistas, Coria and Zamora, and have dropped points only once—on their trip to Ponferradina, where the match ended 0-0 and Lugo created more.
Fernández’s track record includes two promotions with UD Ourense and, earlier, a key role in Deportivo’s 2012 rise, scoring at Balaídos. Now he’s pushing for another shot at professional football with Lugo.
The next match is on 17 October at 16:30, when Lugo visit the Anxo Carro for the game against Deportivo’s reserve team.
