Bruno Fernandes, Gakpo & Dorgu join Nations League injury list

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Cody Gakpo (Liverpool) and Patrick Dorgu have joined the high-profile injury list for the international break after issues that cut their Nations League involvement. Fernandes played for Portugal against Wales on Thursday, but was left out of Sunday’s squad for the match vs Norway.

Portugal coach Jorge Jesus said Fernandes “played through the pain” and that he “wasn’t his usual self”, adding that he carried an injury from Manchester United and “really wanted to play” against Wales. Gakpo was injured during the Netherlands’ Sunday clash with Serbia, having to come off after just 17 minutes in the 2-1 win.

Netherlands boss Xavi Hernández confirmed Gakpo will have a scan on Monday: “It’s his ankle, that’s all I know.” Dorgu, meanwhile, lasted 30 minutes before limping off in Denmark’s 2-0 victory over Wales, per BBC Sport.
