The Orellut side have now spent four consecutive matchdays as leaders and are nearly flawless: they have dropped only one draw, a 0-0 at home against Sabadell.

A throwback record

To find a start like this in the division, you have to go back to 2012-13, when Elche—coached then by Fran Escribá—were the last team in Segunda to reach 19 points in the opening seven rounds. That season ended with the Valencian club winning the league and earning promotion to LaLiga’s top tier 24 years later.
