Córdoba win, but their goal pattern stays unsettling

Córdoba arrive with a bit more calm after ending a run of three straight defeats and climbing out of the relegation zone. According to MARCA, what keeps things tense is the “unsettling” rhythm the team brings to results: their two wins have looked almost like day and night.

Two wins, very different

The clearest example in this update is their 1-2 win over Albacete. MARCA frames it as an upset against a struggling home side, but the match also showed the team’s inconsistency over long stretches. That’s where Iván Ania’s own assessment matters: the coach, as reported by MARCA, said what he saw before halftime was “the worst” of his time at the helm, claimed he would have made changes with “all 11” at the break, and admitted he didn’t enjoy the win because of how the game had developed.

The newspaper also highlights that this kind of whiplash isn’t totally new. Córdoba has previously managed to “win however they could” to get momentum and then grow from there—citing prior examples where results paved the way for longer winning runs.

Attack good, balance still off

Right now, the concern isn’t scoring. In fact, MARCA notes that the numbers are solid even if the team isn’t at its best: Córdoba are the sixth-best scorers in the league. The issue is the other side of the coin. They’ve already conceded 13 goals and still have no clean sheets, which, in MARCA’s view, blurs the positives.

So the immediate task for Iván Ania is to turn those flashes into something steadier, especially defensively, so the team’s scoring record doesn’t come with such a chaotic picture at the back.
