Cucurella available for Inter clash as Mourinho trims squad

Real Madrid returned to training at Valdebebas this Sunday after losing to Real Betis, already focused on their Champions League opener against Inter Milan. Mundo Deportivo reports that Cucurella is a key positive: after minor muscular issues had raised doubts in Sevilla, he has ultimately been able to join the group again and should be available if Mourinho wants him.

Session built around the game

The squad session also included the so-called new arrivals, Tchouaméni, Thiago Pitarch and Endrick. All of them trained normally and, according to the same source, are expected to make the trip and be in the matchday squad.

However, the outlet adds an important caveat: they may not be ready to start from the get-go. For midfielders in particular, the problem is lack of match rhythm, as they have reportedly been out of competition for over a month.

Injuries keep others out

Mundo Deportivo also confirms the players who won’t be available. Real Madrid are still without Asencio, Militao, Mendy and Rodrygo, who remain sidelined and do not currently fit into the team’s plans.

The team’s work has been aimed at rebuilding confidence for the European opener, mixing tactical drills with more physical training. The Real Madrid–Inter match will be refereed by Michael Oliver, as the same report notes.
