Diallo key man: Granada still winless when he’s out

Granada are dealing with a telling pattern. According to MARCA, the rojiblancos have not won a single game in which French defender Diallo has been unavailable on the pitch. What looks like a normal absence due to physical issues has turned into a repeating storyline that affects the team’s results.

When Diallo is missing

Since arriving at Los Cármenes last season, Diallo has missed 11 matches. During those games, Granada recorded nine losses and two draws. In other words, when he can’t line up with his teammates, the squad’s level drops and the plan becomes harder to execute.

This campaign has followed the same script. Granada began strongly with one draw and two wins, but after their triumph at El Arcángel, Diallo suffered a ankle injury during training and had to stop. From there, with him sidelined, MARCA notes that the team managed just one point across three matchdays, alongside two defeats.

A repeat from last term

MARCA also points out that this “Diallo dependency” already happened before. Diallo again dealt with problems early on in the previous campaign, missing four games in which Granada failed to win. And as the season continued, he was absent for additional fixtures, reinforcing the same kind of effect.

Now, with Diallo on duty with Mauritania while still without the competitive clearance, he won’t be available again. That means he will miss the match vs Andorra, giving Pacheta’s side a chance to finally break the trend of struggling to win without him.
