Discipline sanctions Huijsen and Real Madrid receives a warning

The Spanish FA’s (RFEF) Disciplinary Committee has published the sanctions from matchday 7 of the league season, following Atlético de Madrid–Real Madrid (2-1) at the Metropolitano.

In that game, Huijsen was shown a red card after committing a penalty on Giuliano. The Committee has handed him a one-match ban, meaning he will miss Real Madrid’s next match against Villarreal on October 10, according to Competición’s decision.

Red card and additional bans

The derby also brought another disciplinary outcome for Real Madrid’s staff: Pedro Machado—Mourinho’s assistant—was also sent off. He received a one-match sanction for conduct contrary to good sporting conduct, as stated in the Competición wording.

Warning about half-time timing

Beyond the sendings-off, the Committee also focused on match procedure at Valdebebas. Competición warned Real Madrid for leaving half-time late, which led to the second half starting five minutes later than scheduled, as noted in the referee’s report. The ruling, as Mundo Deportivo reports, reiterates teams’ duty to meet the official match timetable and asks the club to act with maximum care in their games.
