Eberl: Olise never asked to leave Bayern for Real Madrid

Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, spoke to Bild about the rumours that this summer linked Michael Olise to Real Madrid. In his account, none of it came from a request: he said Olise “never, not even once” asked him to leave Bayern for the Madrid club.

Eberl shared an anecdote to explain the unease. He said that Michael messaged him on WhatsApp during the World Cup and that he hesitated before opening it, unsure whether it would genuinely be about that topic: “I hesitated for a moment before opening it.” In the end, it was a photo with Manu Koné —whom Eberl signed when Koné was at Gladbach— and a heart underneath, both sending greetings from the United States.

Renewal talks ahead

Eberl also added that he followed up afterwards, asking about the shirt number for next season. “I asked Michael if he wanted to wear the number 11 next season, but he wanted to keep number 17,” he said, stressing that, in his view, everything was “in order.”

On the future, he insisted the Bayern want to extend his contract. Olise is tied through 2029, and Eberl underlined that there is no release clause. He expects that “by next summer” they should know whether, on Olise’s side, there is a willingness to renew. Mundo Deportivo reports these remarks as Bayern look to move on from the transfer noise.
