Nàstic unveil Bakis, Fran Gil, Athuman and Vicent Abril

The Nàstic has started shaping its new project after a summer of near-complete squad rebuilding, presenting this Wednesday Sinan Bakis, Fran Gil, Ismael Athuman and Vicent Abril. The unveiling also came with a check-in from sporting director Tomeu Nadal, who described the transfer window as “three months of a lot of work” and said the club approached it from a “blank page” mentality, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Four new faces

Bakis kicked things off with confidence after already scoring in the win over Zaragoza. He said he wanted to stay in Spain despite interest from abroad, and stated: «the best Bakis is back».

Fran Gil, meanwhile, comes in having moved past the injury that interrupted his preseason. He pointed to the squad’s welcome and his desire to show what he can do. Athuman brings experience to a young group; the centre-back believes he can help a side «with a lot of hunger» and stressed that internal competition is key, adding that it «helps us get our best version».

Vicent Abril joins to compete for the goalkeeping spot with Gaizka Ayesa after weeks of uncertainty over his future. The goalkeeper admitted he’s at a slight disadvantage due to arriving later, but insisted he can bring «a lot of security and a lot of communication with the defence».

Youth with experience

Nadal framed the project as a blend of youth, experience and versatility. He said the squad has players able to operate in different roles and systems, and highlighted how Prohens and Shin adapted during the Zaragoza match, suggesting the club’s groundwork helped: «Not sure if it was decisive, but it certainly helped a lot» (Mundo Deportivo).

With the window now closed, the big challenge is turning the rebuild into results on the pitch. Nadal also stressed the identity the team wants to show and set the tone for the season: «The work, the ambition, the drive, the effort are non-negotiable».
