Real Zaragoza renews Marcos Manolache through 2031

Real Zaragoza confirmed this Wednesday the renewal of Marcos Manolache through 2031, securing the future of one of the most promising goalkeepers in its academy. As the club explained, the 18-year-old has been integrated with the first team since this summer, with experience as a starter for the reserves and also as the third-choice option.

Step up to the first team

In its statement, Zaragoza recalls that Manolache arrived at the club’s training facilities in 2018 as an academy player, coming from UD Amistad. Since then, his path has stayed closely tied to Real Zaragoza, and he reached a milestone by becoming a Rumania U-16 international in 2024, enabled by his double nationality.

The club also points to the most recent season: after playing in youth División de Honor last year under Javier Garcés, he made “a step forward” this summer to join first-team dynamics from the start of pre-season, including the camp in Boltaña. The club adds that he has now earned a new deal because he has consolidated himself as one of the academy’s biggest prospects.

Five more seasons

Zaragoza says the extension is agreed for five seasons, and accompanies the announcement with its satisfaction at securing his continuity. The statement frames the renewal as a key step in the project and offers Manolache “the greatest successes” along the way, continuing “hand in hand” with the club.

Within the current goalkeeper picture, Manolache is part of the Deportivo Aragón staff alongside Berrar and is positioned as an alternative to the first team’s main options, Westerveld and Anartz Peña, with whom he already trained during the club’s time in Boltaña. (Sport)
