Zaragoza hope four injured players dodge muscle issues
Sport reports that medical tests will determine the condition of Ander, Iranzo, Diego and Delgado after they were hurt vs Juventud Torremolinos.
Real Zaragoza are taking a cautiously optimistic view of the situation of the four players who finished the Juventud Torremolinos match with knocks, although medical tests —to be carried out depending on how each one evolves over the next hours— will ultimately decide the severity, according to Sport.
Tests will set the outcome
The most worrying case initially is Ander. He had to leave the field ten minutes after the restart due to discomfort in the hamstring (isquio). Even so, the club’s first read is that it could be something minor. Ibai, at the end of the game, suggested Ander was pointing towards a small muscle tear.
As a more positive sign, Sport adds that Ander took part on Monday morning in the compensatory session arranged by the coaching staff. He trained normally alongside Iranzo, Diego and Delgado, together with the rest of the starting XI in Torremolinos.
The hope inside Zaragoza is that the issue for all four is limited to a muscle overload. Sport says that is taken for granted in the cases of Iranzo and Delgado. For Diego, who was also withdrawn due to hamstring discomfort —a spot that had bothered him during the week— the indications point away from a serious muscular injury.
Doubts for Cartagena
If the players’ feelings match expectations and the medical checks rule out major setbacks, Sport suggests they could all be in contention for Sunday’s match against Cartagena. Still, their availability will depend on how they respond throughout the day and during Tuesday’s rest period. The article also notes that Ibai may decide to give one of them a break to avoid risks, with Ander the main concern given the amount of muscular problems he faced last season.
