Zaragoza win in Torremolinos, but Ander and Delgado raise doubts
Ander Herrera could have a minor muscle injury while Delgado and other players were left with problems after a game in poor pitch conditions, Sport reports.
Real Zaragoza returned home with a win, but also with several physical worries. The team went to Torremolinos with an almost-empty infirmary: only Edu Espiau didn’t travel because of an existing injury. The match—played on the Juventud Torremolinos pitch—left lingering discomfort.
The most concerning case is Ander Herrera. He was forced to ask for a substitution in the early stages of the second half due to a possible muscle issue. Sport notes that he showed no pain at the end of the game, which, if a rupture is confirmed, would point to it being minor.
Multiple players left “touched”
Delgado will also be assessed after finishing the game looking hurt. An ischios injury is suspected, although Sport’s wording suggests it could simply be overload rather than a full tear, similar to what happened to several teammates.
The bigger scare came from the two starting centre-backs, who both had to leave the pitch early with physical problems. In Iranzo’s case, his substitution was made out of caution due to a hamstring warning that, according to Sport, would have meant avoiding any risk. Diego asked to come off because of adductor discomfort, a recurring problem from the week, to prevent making it worse.
Medical checks soon
Over the next hours, the club’s medical staff will examine every case, including Edu Espiau. As Sport warns, depending on the test results, one or more players could miss several matches if a muscle injury is confirmed.
