Eric Cantona slams Jim Ratcliffe at Man United over austerity

Eric Cantona, Manchester United legend, hit out at Jim Ratcliffe over his recent handling of the club. As RMC Sport reports, the austerity drive has been linked to the suppression of 450 jobs and an increase in Old Trafford ticket prices. Cantona, who played for United from 1992 to 1997 and won four English league titles, answered a direct question bluntly: “Could I have signed for Manchester United with Ratcliffe running things? No. Bien sûr que non.”

The Frenchman also referenced Ratcliffe’s earlier controversy in the UK over immigration. Reacting to those comments, Cantona said on TikTok: “I don’t understand how someone like that can say such a thing while owning a football club.” He added that the sport’s biggest players come from “different waves of immigration”.
