Flick’s Champions squad: Eric García ruled out, others injured

FC Barcelona take on Feyenoord at the Spotify Camp Nou this Wednesday as they get their Champions League campaign underway, with the competition described by Mundo Deportivo as one of the club’s main season targets. Hansi Flick has released the list of available players and, as the paper reports, there were no surprises.

There are also registration/fitness-related reasons behind other exclusions. Mundo Deportivo notes that the Swedish player, out for a long spell, is not registered for the League phase of this Champions League edition. The paper adds that Jesse Bisiwu is also not included, despite improved ankle issues and training with the first team in recent days—Flick ultimately ruled him out for this match.

Squad for the opening match

By contrast, Hamza Abdelkarim is called up along with Brian Fariñas. Fariñas is the only player from List B named in the group for the Feyenoord tie.

With the squad set, Flick can choose a strong starting XI. Mundo Deportivo suggests a probable lineup of Joan García; Koundé, Cubarsí, Gerard Martín, Xavi Espart; Rodri, Pedri; Lamine Yamal, Fermín, Gordon; and Raphinha.

As usual for home European nights, the team is already in concentration at Hotel Torre Melina and will depart for the stadium at 16:30, ahead of the 18:45 kick-off (Movistar Liga de Campeones), according to Mundo Deportivo.
