Giráldez hails Celta win: “A tough month”

Claudio Giráldez was pleased with Celta’s big win, while admitting he didn’t like the first half. In his view, the team went in level with a 2-0 scoreline but with the feeling that the performance was among the worst they’ve produced this season.

Calm after a rough run

He linked the result to the club’s schedule and the pressure they’ve been under. “We were complaining a bit about the calendar and now the feeling is that we didn’t want it to stop… It’s going to help us rest, to leave with a smile after this tough month in terms of both fixtures and results,” he said, also crediting the internal confidence: “The people inside always believed, and today they’re getting their reward for all the effort.”

Giráldez explained that the match changed after the third goal. “Once it became 3-0, the whole thing opened up and we saw a released team, playing quickly, very well, with lots of chances,” he said. Still, he noted the scoreline felt “excessive” and insisted on keeping perspective: “It’s just 7 points and we need calm and patience.”

He also pointed to the need for better ball possession and the way the team adjusted when the opponent changed shape. Finally, he downplayed any personal spotlight, saying he felt relief for the fans more than for himself, as MARCA reported.
