Guillaume Restes ruled out for Toulouse trip to Lorient

Guillaume Restes won’t play for Toulouse in their trip to Lorient this Saturday (20:45) due to a leg injury. According to L'Équipe, the goalkeeper picked up the problem after a hit to the thigh over the weekend during Toulouse’s loss to Lille (0-1).

Out with precaution

L'Équipe says initial concerns were kept in check, but the club has decided to be cautious. Restes suffered a «petite pointe musculaire» (minor muscular “twinge”) in his thigh, so he won’t travel to the Moustoir.

Toulouse coach Jens Berthel Askou initially chose to “wait and see” during his press conference this Thursday. However, as L'Équipe adds, there’s no intention to take risks: Restes is set to be absent for the match.

Nilfore gets his chance

With Restes unavailable, Mathys Nilfore is expected to start in goal. The replacement already came on against Lille, and this will be his first Ligue 1 start at 19.

Last season, as L'Équipe notes, Nilfore was loaned to Dunkerque (Ligue 2), where he played 26 matches to build experience. Now the young keeper’s challenge is immediate: help Toulouse hold up in a tough top-flight away fixture.
