Hakim Ziyech leaves Wydad after just one season

Wydad Casablanca has officially confirmed the departure of Hakim Ziyech, its international winger, after a spell that lasted a bit more than a year. As reported by L'Équipe, the Moroccan club announced the decision this Sunday and framed the move as a short but memorable chapter.

A short, intense spell

Ziyech arrived in Casablanca in the summer of 2025. During his only full season with the club, he played 16 matches across all competitions and scored 9 goals, according to L'Équipe.

The club’s message

In a post on Facebook, Wydad said the chapter “may not have lasted as long as we hoped,” but that seeing him wear the Wydad shirt will remain special for the club and its supporters. The message also stresses that his time there will be a unique part of the club’s story, as noted by L'Équipe.

Before joining Casablanca, Ziyech had also played for Ajax Amsterdam, Chelsea and Galatasaray, L'Équipe recalls. The 33-year-old now leaves after this single season and the next question is where he goes from here.
