Hugo Magnetti extends with Brest through 2029

Stade Brestois have announced a contract extension for midfielder Hugo Magnetti. As L'Équipe explains, he was set to see his deal run out in June 2027, but the club has now secured him until 2029.

The publication places the announcement on a special night: it was made alongside the tributes to Eric Roy this Sunday evening, ahead of Brest’s Ligue 1 game against Paris Saint-Germain in matchday four.

A key renewal for SB29

L'Équipe stresses that the renewal gives Brest long-term stability in midfield, removing the uncertainty of an end-of-contract situation coming up the following June. Magnetti is also described as vice-captain, reinforcing the idea that he is one of the leaders on and off the pitch.

Since arriving in 2017

According to the same source, Magnetti joined Brest from Bastia back in 2017. With this extension, the 28-year-old axial midfielder remains tied to the Finistère club through 2029. The report even notes that he displayed the news on the pitch board used by the referees.

L'Équipe also includes a remark about the Eric Roy tribute from Lorenzi: when rumors were going around, it “put him out of sorts.”
