Ibai Gómez takes Iranzo and Ureña to Tarragona; Diego González only miss

Real Zaragoza are heading by road to Tarragona for tonight’s league opener (21:30) in the Nou Estadi Costa Daurada, starting their Primera RFEF campaign away at Nàstic, with a 23-man squad, according to Sport.

The big names in the selection are the club’s two most recent signings: central defender Rubén Iranzo, who will wear the 14 shirt previously held by captain Francho, and Óscar Ureña, set to play with 23. For the new-category debut, coach Ibai Gómez has just one definite absence.

The one confirmed absence

The only sidelined player is Diego González. Sport reports he suffered a cerebral contusion on August 21 against the Bilbao Athletic, and under FIFA protocol he must stay ten days without training at high intensity.

There are also call-ups from the youth ranks. Filial midfielder Diego Monzón—who picked up a lateral ankle ligament sprain on August 15 vs Villarreal B—makes the trip after working with the group in the last two sessions. Tobajas is also in the squad, while Vadillo already has first-team dorsal numbers after his renewal on Friday.

Saidu is listed despite not training on Friday due to illness, with Zaragoza still trying to keep him even though there is no agreement yet; negotiations remain far apart, with the Turkish side Göztepe mentioned as a possible destination.

Backed by travelling fans

Zaragoza arrive with the plan to lean on their favourite status, in a stadium where, Sport says, nearly 2,000 supporters from Zaragoza will be in attendance. The match is against a tough opponent coached by Xisco Campos.
