Iván ‘Pichu’ Cuéllar injured in the head at Mallorca’s training complex
Mallorca’s keeper suffered a serious head injury and will be monitored for 24 hours; he may miss Girona on October 4.
Mallorca’s goalkeeper Iván ‘Pichu’ Cuéllar suffered a serious head injury after a large structure collapsed in the dining area of the Ciutat Esportiva Antonio Asensio, the club reported. The incident happened when he went to the dining room after training.
Cuéllar was taken to hospital for treatment and Mallorca said he will remain under observation for the next 24 hours. This Sunday he was named as a substitute in the match against Almería at Son Moix, which finished with a visiting win (0-1).
If he isn’t fit for the next game, October 4 at Montilivi vs Girona, Luis García would have Arnau Tenas as the only first-team goalkeeper, with Bergström called up for Finland. In that scenario, the squad spots would go to Toni Dols and Nil Torreguitart.
