João Félix: no regrets about Atlético, keeps the door open to LaLiga

João Félix, currently at Al-Nassr, told As that he does not regret his spell at Atlético Madrid despite the harsh feelings around his departure. The forward admitted his performances were uneven, but insisted the experience helped him grow, and said he always tried “to do the best” for himself and the team.

“No me arrepiento de mi paso por el Atlético. Viví momentos muy bonitos e importantes allí. Me sirvió para madurar. No lamento en absoluto mi llegada a Madrid a una edad tan temprana”, he said. He also highlighted the club’s LaLiga title and defended his professionalism against criticism, adding that players go through ups and downs—even if he wished there had been more positive moments in Madrid.

Europe in the future

Looking ahead, Félix said he wants to return to Europe in a few years, especially to LaLiga, with Barcelona high on his list. He praised his time on loan at Barça: “Solo jugar en el Barcelona me hizo muy feliz… Estoy muy contento de haber vestido la camiseta del Barça”. He also said he could never play for Real Madrid, calling it “the biggest traitor in history”.
