José Alberto: “Two painful results are hurting us”
The Racing coach says the loss to Celta demands a “deep reflection” and that the international break must help them improve, especially away from home, in Segunda.
José Alberto spoke after Racing’s match against Celta with a tough assessment of what went wrong. The Asturias-born coach admitted his side got off to a good start, but the momentum shifted quickly and the game slipped away.
“We lost control”
“Tenemos que hacer una reflexión profunda de lo que estamos haciendo,” he said, pointing to how the contest changed after early phases. In his reading of the match, he stressed Racing were competitive at the beginning and “hasta el segundo gol”, before “hemos perdido el control”.
The break as a reset
The coach believes recent results have been a major blow: “Son dos resultados muy dolorosos, nos hacen daño.” He also called for immediate improvement in intensity and adaptability: “El equipo tiene que ser más competitivo, ofrecer una mejor cara y adaptarnos a la categoría.” In Movistar, he was blunt about their away form: “Tenemos que ser conscientes de que fuera de casa, con lo que estamos haciendo, no nos da.”
José Alberto also praised Celta, describing them as “un equipo con jugadores mucho más asentados en la categoría” and adding that they “oler sangre y reventarnos”.
Looking ahead, he sees the upcoming break as useful time to regroup and fine-tune: “Creo que nos va a venir bien para conjuntarnos.” His message for the next game versus Valencia was clear: “Quiero que contra el Valencia seamos el equipo que quiero ver.”
