Julián Álvarez weighs changing agents, in talks with The Elegant Game

Julián Álvarez is considering parting ways with his agent, Fernando Hidalgo. As Mundo Deportivo reports, citing Onda Cero, the Argentine has already started to explore options and has made contact with The Elegant Game, a firm linked to former player Javier Pastore, who also represents Enzo Fernández.

At the moment, there is no decision yet, but the idea has been floated for some time within Julián’s surroundings. The argument is that, in their view, the way his agent has handled matters “has not been the best” during a period that has dragged on over the past months and has affected player, club and the wider context around his future.

The club’s stance

In Atlético Madrid, the interpretation is different: the club, per the same report, pinpoints Hidalgo as the main driver of what has happened in recent weeks. The club’s CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín said: "Julián está realmente mal. Ha habido personas que se han encargado de engañarle, de confundirle", directly referring to the agent and also mentioning FC Barcelona.

What it could mean

Since last summer, Julián has long accepted that he would stay at Atlético. In that context, a break with Hidalgo would be seen as a goodwill move aimed at helping to reset the situation with the club and its supporters.

For now, Mundo Deportivo notes that the fans have not received any gesture yet from the player after everything that unfolded over the summer. The next development will be the key to whether this remains only a plan—or becomes a real change.
