Juventus in loan talks for Woltemade as Everton pushes Balogun

Juventus are in talks to try to land Nick Woltemade on loan from Newcastle, according to The Guardian. The 24-year-old Germany forward joined St James’ Park a year ago in a club-record £69m deal from Stuttgart, but has struggled to establish himself amid the high-intensity gameplans first shaped by Eddie Howe and now by Matthias Jaissle.

Loan fee on the table

As the paper reports, Newcastle are negotiating with the Turin club over a loan fee of around £5m. The switch appears to depend on a new forward arriving at the club, with Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo top of Jaissle’s shortlist and Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khannouss close behind because negotiations with Lille are moving slowly.

Other potential exits

The Guardian adds that Woltemade may not be the only name to move before Tuesday’s deadline. Jacob Murphy is wanted by Nottingham Forest; Nick Pope is looking for a new club after slipping behind the new signings Lukas Hornicek and Ewen Jaouen; and Besiktas retain interest in Joe Willock.

In parallel, the outlet says Everton are in talks with Monaco over a deal for Folarin Balogun after agreeing to sell Beto to Fiorentina. Balogun is viewed as the replacement following the World Cup spotlight that also included his red card being overturned, while Fiorentina’s incoming offer for Beto is reported to be about £15m.
