Kane close to renewing with Bayern: “an announcement soon”

Harry Kane hinted that a contract renewal with Bayern Munich is well on its way. As Mundo Deportivo reports, the 33-year-old’s deal expires at the end of the current season and, from January, he would be free to negotiate with any club if nothing is agreed before then.

Renewal talks progressing

In an interview with The Standard, Kane said negotiations are moving in a positive direction: “We’re still talking. We’re in good conversations, to be honest. We’re pretty close. There are still a few things we need to resolve. I’m happy there. I don’t think it will take too long before there is some kind of announcement,” he said during the international break.

The comments suggest his future at the Allianz Arena is the most likely outcome, even if the calendar matters: if the renewal isn’t tied up before January, the situation changes due to his ability to open talks with other teams.

Ballon d’Or, social media noise

Kane also weighed in on the Ballon d’Or race and how social media has amplified the discussion. “Everyone has the right to do what they want in that situation… From my point of view, it simply doesn’t fit my personality to talk about myself in that sense,” he said, according to Mundo Deportivo.

He added that he values praise from others more than self-promotion: “What makes me prouder is when other people talk about me… that’s more than me talking about it myself.” And on winning: “For me it would be incredible… the time will tell, the voters will vote for whoever they want.”
