Kita opens the door to selling Nantes

Waldemar Kita, the owner of FC Nantes since 2007, has clearly opened the door to the possibility of selling the club. In an interview with Presse Océan this Saturday, as reported by RMC Sport, the Franco-Polish businessman says he is asking “a lot of questions” about his future running the team and hints at being worn down by recent seasons.

Three proposals on the table

Kita says there are currently three offers/proposals on the table, but he stresses that no agreement is in place: “nothing is done” at the moment. He also adds that he cannot share further details due to confidentiality clauses. In the same conversation, he sounds resigned and questions whether his commitment may have been carried away by passion.

Beyond the personal side, Kita looks back critically at the club’s direction. He recalls the 2022 Coupe de France win as a high point, but points to problems around the YellowPark stadium project. He laments that “a magnificent plan” was blocked, and argues that the local authorities would have gained money from land sales if the plan had moved forward.

Waiting for the right handover

Kita, who has faced regular criticism from supporters for years (including the Brigade Loire, which has long demanded his exit and that of his son Franck), believes a new owner could bring a different vision and “a new dynamic.” He says he is not rushing and wants to make sure that, if a change happens, it is done “the right way.”

Finally, RMC Sport notes that over the last few years some sale talks went fairly far without ever concluding, for a variety of reasons. According to the same source, the final figures will be a major factor, and it also suggests that rumors of a €100m sale are not realistic.
