Konaté becomes Real Madrid’s first injury in FIFA break

Ibrahima Konaté was forced to leave France training with a right leg issue. Real Madrid confirmed collateral ligament damage.

The international break has already brought the first setback for Real Madrid. As Mundo Deportivo reports, with national-team matches just getting underway during this two-week FIFA window, the club has already recorded its first injured player.

The injury came with France

The player in question is Ibrahima Konaté. He had to withdraw from a training session with France after suffering a mild sprain in his right knee. A few hours later, Mundo Deportivo says Real Madrid confirmed the ailment involves the collateral ligament of the right leg, following a statement from the club.

Real Madrid, according to the same source, did not specify a recovery timetable. Even so, there is an expectation—though with doubts—that he may be available for the resumption of LaLiga, scheduled for October 10, for the match against Villarreal.

More absences to manage

This new blow adds to Real Madrid’s already known injury list. Mundo Deportivo also notes the team is currently missing Fede Valverde, Militao, Rodrygo, and Mendy, who are continuing their rehabilitation at Valdebebas.

With LaLiga set to return in early October, Carlo Ancelotti’s staff will need to reshuffle plans while Konaté’s progress is monitored closely and it becomes clear whether he can make it for the first game back.
