Kylian Mbappé again sidelined: seventh injury since 2024

Kylian Mbappé, of Real Madrid, has been stopped again after getting injured with France, marking his seventh physical setback since joining in the summer of 2024. During the 0-1 win over Türkiye, he hurt his left knee, had to request a substitution, and returned to Madrid; the exact length of the injury is still unclear.

Across that period, as Mundo Deportivo reports, Mbappé already had multiple injury episodes and physical issues. His first setback came on 24 September 2024 against Alavés, when he suffered a left biceps femoris problem and only missed the derby against Atlético Madrid the following weekend. Less than three months later, on 10 December in Bergamo versus Atalanta, he was taken off in the 36th minute with muscle discomfort and then missed the league match vs Rayo Vallecano.

Six prior issues, knee in focus

After that, there were more disruptions: a bruise to the calf from a heavy tackle in Espanyol-Real Madrid (he missed the Copa game vs Leganés), a right-ankle sprain against Arsenal in the Champions League (two matches out) and three absences at the Club World Cup due to acute gastroenteritis.

The longest spell began in December 2025, when Real Madrid reported a left-knee sprain. He missed Betis and Atlético Madrid, and the problem resurfaced during early 2026 until March, with seven matches missed across the two periods. Then, on 25 April 2026, he was sidelined again with an injury to the left semitendinosus (17 days and two games missed), and now he has to stop again five months later.

Overall, Mbappé has missed 14 games through injury since arriving in Madrid; the total rises to 17 if you include the three matches he didn’t play due to gastroenteritis. His availability has hovered close to 90%, but the new diagnosis for the left knee could reduce it.
