Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid) avoids surgery after knee injury
Mbappé returns to Madrid after a left-knee hyperextension with France; he could be back in about 10 days.
Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid’s forward, would have avoided surgery after picking up an injury with France against Türkiye in the Nations League. He scored the match-winning goal in a 1-0 victory, but went off shortly after and missed the rest of the international break. RMC Sport reports that the French medical staff didn’t push him despite the pain.
The issue was a left-knee hyperextension. According to the same account, playing on could have made a surgical procedure necessary. Mbappé returned to Madrid quickly to begin his recovery, with direct coordination between the medical teams of France and Real Madrid.
Recovery plan
Instead of an operation, the club believes he could be back in around ten days. If he’s fit in time to return to LaLiga and face Villarreal on October 10, Jose Mourinho may still choose to extend his rest.
Real Madrid then have major dates: October 14 vs AS Roma in the Champions League and October 25 against Barcelona in the Clasico.
