Liverpool 2-0 Everton: Olsson and Kapocs end derby hoodoo

Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 at Anfield in the Women’s Super League, ending their derby misery with Beata Olsson scoring early and Cornelia Kapocs netting late.

The hosts made their breakthrough in the opening minutes. Olsson rose to meet Natalia Ramos’s right-wing corner, beating Hannah Blundell with a header that went in diagonally across goal within the first four minutes. After that, it became a grind as Everton defended deep, with Vivien Endemann going close when her volley hit the crossbar after the break.

Ruby Mace kept Everton in it twice more: she blocked Ramos’s attempt with just over 20 minutes left, then cleared off the line to deny Kapocs five minutes later after a header bounced off her shoulder. In the closing stages, Kapocs finally turned and fired home. The result leaves Liverpool on seven points from their opening four games, their only loss coming away to defending champions Manchester City, as The Guardian reports.
