Liverpool win vs Atlético, but Barcola injury worries loom

Liverpool got the job done in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid at Anfield (2-1), after Marcos Llorente put the visitors ahead (17’). The turning point came from the Reds’ double-pivot system: Dominik Szoboszlai levelled (1-1, 40’) and Alexis Mac Allister made it 2-1 (50’).

Victory, plus a fresh worry

The win, however, came with injury concerns. As reported by L’Équipe, Milos Kerkez and Bradley Barcola both had to come off with muscle problems. Barcola, making his first start for Liverpool, had two big chances (15’ and 49’) before being replaced in the 60th minute while holding his left calf.

Arsenal also picked up three points on Wednesday: Arsenal 1-0 Napoli, decided by Martin Ödegaard in the second half (75’). L’Équipe highlights how the captain found the finish after a collective move, firing from just inside the box.

Ödegaard lands it, Saka misses
