Luís Castro hits nine months at Levante with 1.32 points

Luís Castro is hitting his nine-month mark as Levante head coach. According to MARCA, the Portuguese manager signed on 20 December and has since taken charge of 28 official games, all of them in LaLiga.

The situation when he arrived was tough. MARCA says he took over after a 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad, when the team was bottom with 10 points, six shy of safety and guided by interim coaches Álvaro del Moral and Vicente Iborra.

From pressure to staying up

From that point, Levante began to gather points until reaching 42 in total. MARCA highlights that 32 of those came after Castro took charge. The season’s main goal was secured on the final matchday at La Cartuja Stadium against Real Betis, sealing the club’s top-flight survival.

This campaign, with six league matchdays played so far, Levante has five points: a win versus Real Betis and two draws, against Osasuna and Málaga.

In total, MARCA puts Castro’s numbers at 10 wins, 7 draws, and 11 losses across those 28 matches. That produces an average of 1.32 points per game.

MARCA also compares it with his overall career output: his broader average is listed as 1.57 PPP, higher than what he’s posted at Levante. Before joining, Castro developed in the Benfica youth ranks and in 2023 took over USL Dunkerque in Ligue 2, later signing with FC Nantes in June 2025—a spell that lasted just five months and 15 official matches.
