Man City set for fallout as decision reached on 115 charges

Manchester City’s case over 115 financial charges has moved into its next phase, with a decision reached on whether the club breached Premier League rules, BBC Sport reports. The inquiry began after charges were brought in February 2023, and the hearing finally got under way on 16 September 2024, following a four-year investigation.

BBC Sport says it has learned that, after reporting by The Athletic, City have been found guilty on the vast majority of the almost 115 charges. City have consistently denied wrongdoing and were expecting to appeal if the outcome turned against them.

What the 115 charges cover

The wider background stretches back to the leaked Football Leaks material published by Der Spiegel from 2018, including allegations around sponsorship income and off-the-books payments involving Roberto Mancini, plus alleged misreporting of spending. City rejected the leaks as illegally obtained.

With the independent panel not yet having released the written judgment, sanctions and the club’s Premier League standing could still depend on the official publication and any appeal. City also said the process is ongoing and subject to strict confidentiality.
