Mancini’s Italy thrashes Turkey 1-4 in Nations League

Roberto Mancini’s Italy put the brakes on its recent troubles with a 1-4 win against Turkey in the Nations League group stage, second round. It was also a response to the previous Friday’s 0-2 defeat in Rome against Belgium.

Italy took control early. Bastoni scored the opener in the 9th minute, then Frattesi made it 0-2 in the 22nd. Kayode pushed it to 0-3 on 27’ and the Azzurra went into the break having done most of the job. Turkey reacted after a triple change from Montella: Baris Yilmaz pulled one back to 1-3 in the 47th, but P.Esposito restored the four-goal distance with the final 1-4 just three minutes later (50’).

Mundo Deportivo highlights that Mancini rotated heavily with eight changes—only Donnarumma, Tonali and Pio Esposito kept their places, while Bastoni returned after serving a ban. The match was played at Bursa’s Yüzüncü Yıl Atatürk Stadium (33,891 fans), with Michael Oliver as referee.
