Manel del Río leaves Barça: CEO exits at the end of the month

Manel del Río, FC Barcelona’s general manager, will leave the club at the end of this month, as reported by Ara and confirmed by Mundo Deportivo. The CEO shared his decision with President Joan Laporta and on Monday he said goodbye to the Board.

The club says the separation was agreed by mutual consent and highlights his work over five years at the institution: first as finance director and more recently as general director. Del Río took over the CEO role in September 2025 after a period without a CEO following Ferran Reverter’s resignation.

Leadership reshuffle

For now, the director general position will remain vacant. Sergio Serrano—previously at Banc de Sabadell—will assume the new finance direction role instead of Marcel Ramírez. His departure comes as Barça has regained LaLiga’s financial fair play, while still needing an additional 300-million-euro loan to complete the Espai Barça project.
