Manu Rodríguez remains a doubt for Sporting until the last minute vs Eldense

Manu Rodríguez is still the main physical question mark for Sporting Gijón ahead of the trip to Eldense, according to Sport. The midfielder has trained with the group at Mareo like one more, but coach Miguel Ángel Larcamón will wait until the very end to decide whether he is included in the matchday squad.

The call comes late

Larcamón’s approach is clear: nothing is fully decided yet, and the final decision will depend on how Rodríguez feels and what the coaching staff see in the last hours. That puts the player in a real doubt window, with the possibility that he ends up available if he is fit enough.

At the same time, the club’s technical team takes a more positive view of two other names. About Antonio Casas and Jorge Sáenz, the coach says he considers both “very close” to their best form. As Sport quotes him, Larcamón adds: “They are in condition to start the match; it will be assessed whether they can play the full game, but I’m happy with the ones who are currently playing,” and also notes that the recovery of options gives him more tactical flexibility.

For now, the spotlight stays on Rodríguez: if he is ready in time and responds well physically, Sporting can gain an extra lever in the starting XI or in rotation plans depending on how the game unfolds.
