Maresca keeps Haaland out as City visit Norwich

Enzo Maresca, the coach of Manchester City, made a clear call for the Carabao Cup last-32 tie at Norwich: according to Mundo Deportivo, Erling Haaland was left out of the matchday squad and did not even sit on the bench.

With this tie completing the last-32 round, the next fixture is already known. As the same outlet reports, the winner of the Manchester City-Norwich game will face Brighton, who also advanced on Wednesday by knocking out Manchester United 2-3 after trailing 2-0.

Rotations for the cup

While City—like Arsenal—had started the Premier League with four wins from four, Mundo Deportivo says Maresca chose to rotate heavily on Thursday. Alongside Haaland, he rested Rúben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, who also missed out on the squad.

The paper lists the City XI: Rulli, Lewis, Khusanov, Reis, O'Reilly, Bouaddi, Kovacic, Samba, Allan, Ait-Nouri and Cherki.
