Matheus injures early: Barça drop from top spot after 2-2 vs Cartagena

FC Barcelona slipped from first place after drawing 2-2 with Jimbee Cartagena at the Palau and also suffered an early blow: Matheus injured his knee just 4 minutes into the match. The Brazilian felt discomfort and couldn’t continue; his status is tests pending.

Barça got off to a strong start when Adolfo scored early with an assist from Matheus. But Tomaz replied with the 1-1 in the 8th minute. Sergio González put them 2-1 up in the 16th, only for Tomaz to score again before halftime for the 2-2 in the 19th, catching Dídac out.

A rough night at the Palau

The second half was more even and young Guti made his debut for the club. Barça had a brief numerical advantage due to a straight red for Adri (a hard challenge on Sergio González at 32’), but they couldn’t make it count, even after going for the extra attacker late on. Adolfo came closest in the final play, though his attempt went wide.
