Matheus Rodrigues goes under the knife: setback for Barça

FC Barcelona has confirmed that Matheus Rodrigues, the Brazilian winger in futsal, will undergo surgery this Friday for an injury to the distal biceps femoris tendon in his left thigh. The setback follows the injury he suffered in the league match against Jimbee Cartagena.

In the club’s statement, the medical tests “confirmed” the problem and said a further medical update will be issued once the procedure is completed. The timing is especially tough ahead of Wednesday’s clash, 30 September, at the Palau Blaugrana (20:45) against O Parrulo Ferrol.

Barcelona also reported that Jean Pierre Guisel Costa ‘Pito’ has an injury to the right thigh adductor and will follow a recovery plan until after the break before being cleared for competitive action.
