Messi’s Eldense bid: due diligence and a new direction

Leo Messi has reached a principle of agreement to buy CD Eldense, according to MARCA. However, the takeover is not official yet: legally, the club can’t be treated as newly owned until the due diligence process (the purchase audits) wraps up, expected to take a couple of weeks. If confirmed, Messi would be the club’s 100% maximum and only shareholder.

As MARCA stresses, the decision is described as Messi’s alone, with no third parties or other football stars involved—something the newspaper says had also been rumored.

New coach needed fast

In the meantime, Eldense has returned to work without Claudio Barragán, after his dismissal last Monday. The article links the move to the early league start: two points in the first four matchdays, a run that left the coach’s position untenable. No replacement has been named yet.

Even if it’s still not “officially” his club, the report says Messi and his team expect to take control in the coming days, with the first big decision being to appoint a new head coach.

Elda visit and local support

Since MARCA broke the news, the club and the city of Elda have drawn global attention. This Wednesday, mayor Rubén Alfaro said he was satisfied and asked for respect for confidentiality during the process, highlighting the preliminary understanding that Messi would buy the club on his own.

Finally, MARCA adds that Messi intends to visit Elda and the team once his Inter Miami commitments allow it, with the MLS season running until early December.
