Miedema could miss the rest of 2026 for Man City

Manchester City could be without Vivianne Miedema for the remainder of 2026, The Guardian reports. The Netherlands forward suffered a knee injury and, while the club said she would miss the “start of the season”, the newspaper’s information suggests the timeline is even longer.

Serious knee injury update

Citing multiple sources, The Guardian says it is not an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, but that the problem is still serious. The report adds there are fears she may not return until after the Women’s Super League winter break.

City looks for cover

To compensate, City are understood to have tried to bring in reinforcements in attack—particularly to cover the area where Miedema has mostly played as a No 10. The Guardian also says the club made enquiries before the WSL transfer deadline at 11pm BST.

Names mentioned in those checks include Jennifer Echegini (PSG) and Ornella Vignola (Everton). However, the newspaper states PSG are not willing to sell Echegini.
