Montse Tomé set to take over Pachuca Femenil bench

Montse Tomé already has her next destination. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish coach will be the new person in charge of the Pachuca Femenil bench after both sides reached an agreement that the outlet says is already closed. The club’s official confirmation is expected to arrive imminently, between this Thursday and Friday.

The move comes just two days after Pachuca announced the departure of Óscar Torres. He left the position by mutual agreement following a difficult start in the Apertura 2026. The team is currently on a run of four straight defeats and sits outside the spots that qualify for the Liguilla, trailing the fourth place in Group B by five points.

A needed change

Tomé’s arrival brings a top-profile coach with a strong track record in Spain. Mundo Deportivo highlights her spell as Spain’s head coach between 2023 and 2025, after working with the national youth setups. She won titles with the Under-17s and later guided the senior side, winning the 2023-24 Nations League and finishing as European runners-up in the most recent edition, as noted by the newspaper.

Before the move is announced, Tomé is in Lisbon attending an international summit with Francisco Neto and Red Bull’s CEO, focused on leadership and sport, the same source adds.

Pachuca’s next match is scheduled for September 26 against Santos Laguna. That game could mark Tomé’s debut if her appointment is officially confirmed in time and she joins the squad’s work immediately. For Pachuca, it’s also seen as another step to energise a women’s project with a consolidated structure in Liga MX Femenil, which needs results now to get back on track for its ambitious targets.
