Nicolás Larcamón (Sporting) blames errors after Asturian derby

Nicolás Larcamón, Sporting’s coach, reviewed his team’s defeat in the Asturian derby and pointed to two specific errors and a sending-off that “closed the match”. He said that, going into the game, they knew the smallest details would matter, but they didn’t get them right.

Larcamón noted that, at halftime, he believed they could level: “We were in a position to have drawn the match.” He felt the team had some time in the game early on but conceded they didn’t create enough chances to finish, especially when decision-making in the final third slipped.

He also addressed the derby’s tension: “We could have avoided some bookings.” On Gelabert, he questioned the VAR-style decision timeline and said he didn’t think the red was warranted: “The yellow was enough”. Regarding Iosifov, he said they are waiting on medical tests and that it “seems like a contracture”.

Sporting’s coach finished with a message of accountability: “Despite the anger, I feel we’re very strong,” adding that the next step is “to get back to winning ways.”
